Well that explains a lot because straight up defending George like he’s still what he once was while also using popularity as an indication of quality made it sound like you were a modern country fan of artists such as Rascall Flatts and all that shit.
Dude, all we needed was context and this argument doesn’t happen. LOL. I do suggest some of Eric’s non hits if you are at least open to his less aggressive music. “Where She Told Me to Go” and “These Boots” in particular.
Well I don’t see how hating someone’s music is personal, but I just don’t like him. For whatever reason. And I’m not a country fan, I am a George Strait fan and that’s pretty much it. I listened to country when I was little and the only thing I really kept liking was George Strait. For whatever reason I do not know. But I do not listen to country radio so I probably wouldn’t know all of Eric Church’s songs, but the ones I have heard, I don’t like.
I was talking about his music. How can you hate his music as a country fan? It’s unique, it’s excellent both vocally and lyrically, and if he has a hit on the radio, it’s usually the best song on the radio at that moment.
I should rephrase my last comment. Nothing personal agains the guy, but I hate his MUSIC. Sorry for the confusion but I have nothing against the guy as a person.
Now we’re into personal preference instead of a silly argument that really has no answer. I just have to say that I find it detrimental to country music to hate Eric Church, one of the few artists with his own unique sound and easily one of the best singers in the scene. He’s got more vocal ability and range than most.
Yes. Jamey is better than George. George sold out hard and I don’t expect Jamey ever will You can’t honestly tell me you hear “Here For a Good Time” and think it’s a good song.
Eric Church is TERRIBLE. And while I don’t like the pop singers either I hate Eric Church. His songs are hillbilly redneck just for the fact he’s trying to prove he’s southern. All of his songs sound the same. I do like Jamey Johnson but again he’s not better than George and nobody is. But I equate popularity because you said they could go 30 years but if they are not popular enough how are they going to? I would suggest acutally reading the comment first.
Ignorance? IGNORANCE? The biggest stars right now are pop artists like Taylor Swift, Lady Antabellum, Carrie Underwood, and Sugarland.
Why do you equate popularity to quality? Eric Church has more talent in a finger nail than any of the artists mentioned above. He’s a better singer than all of them except maybe Carrie, a better songwriter than all of them (he’s the best flat out songwriter you’ll hear on country radio right now). Him and Jamey Johnson give us reason to believe in country music.
Wow I would listen to the shit that Eric Church and others you’re talking about first. George songs are WAY better and how are they going to last 30 years when they aren’t even close to being the biggest stars out right now. Ignorance at it’s finest.
I know. I am a big fan of Jamey too, but I don’t think he’s better than George YET. There is a possibility however. I have recently stopped listening to country music. Everytime I turn it on I hear Taylor Swift or Carrie Underwood or some Rock-Country singer. Now I just plug my phone into the radio and listen to real country.
Jamey could, but the funny thing is,is that they NEVER play his music on the radio.I am a big fan of George, too. However,if Jamey were to get as much airtime and publicity as George,he could be well on his way to 57 and even more.
Have you not heard the POS songs he’s released lately like “The Moments That Take Your Breath Away” and “Here For a Good Time”? Pure pop bullshit based on crappy colloquialisms that aren’t even clever in the first place. Sure, he releases an amazing tune now and then (Troubador and Here For the Night), but most of the time it’s middle of the pack garbage that he should be ashamed of knowing his past history.
I certainly do believe that Jamey and EC can maintain 30 years barring they don’t die.
I am laughing right now becuase I have never heard the word poppier and plus even if it was a word, it would not be used in the same sentence as George Strait. George Strait has made minor changes but if he didn’t he wouldn’t be singing. There is no way you can tell me that Eric Church, Brantley Gilbert, and Jamey Johnson could 30 years without minor changes.
How did he sell out? His music got progressively poppier and #1 hits in today’s country scene are the results of either a pop artist or an artist who finally sold out and went for the big #1. Only recently, with artists like Eric Church and Brantley Gilbert landing #1s, has their been a bit of an uprise in legitimate artists at #1 on the charts.
They blame Garth for commercializing country. George went way poppier than Garth ever did.
I don’t know what we’re bitching about but….. George didn’t write a lick of any songs and this one here Jamey wrote and sold it to Straight
^These are two of the best songs, not just country songs, that I’ve ever heard.

George is a singer not a writer , Jamey Johnson is Both he will be around for a long time

Yes finally something on here to agree with ha

Well then, let’s just say we both agree that new “country” is no good. ; )

Nice song

How did he sell out, when Jamey can get 57 number one hits we’ll talk.
shut up all of you and just listen my god
Ears checked for what? The ability to see musical integrity? Jamey’s real. George sold out a long time ago.
Wow. That was the most ignorant thing I’ve ever read. If I were u I would get me ears checked and fast.
eh, george had his days though
Man, they can sing and I forgot how beautiful she is.
